The mission of the Chemehuevi Tribe’s Housing Department is to provide opportunities for Tribal members to attain affordable, safe, decent and sanitary housing; to enhance current living conditions within the tribes jurisdiction; to develop a socioeconomic structure for tribal members and the community at large; and to establish a strong financial foundation towards self-sufficiency.
The Chemehuevi Housing Department provides and maintains 60 rental housing units and 21 Mutual Help (Home-ownership) units for income eligible families within the jurisdiction of the Chemehuevi Tribe. The department is funded and regulated by the Native American Housing and Self Determination Act of 1996 (NAHASDA). We also provide funding to the Chemehuevi Community Center, Security Program and Gymnasium.
